summary of An upheaval
In An Upheaval by Anton Chekhov, the writer
describes that Mashenka goes back to the house and finds maid-servants are
being searched by mistress under a vile way. With confusion, she goes back to
her room and finds the mistress is rummaging in her room, which she thinks is
an insult to her. But Mashenka still goes for the dinner, with feeling of
resentment. After the dinner, she feels wretched and stifled and is going to
leave. While she is packing, Nikolay Sergeitch, the master comes in and say
that he has stolen the brooch in order to let her stay. But she leaves finally.
The
point of view of the fiction is in Mashenka’s view and it talks about things in
a day. There are three main characters, including young girl, Mashenka, a
little man with a flabby face and a bald head, Nikolay Sergeitch, and a fat,
uncouth woman, Fedosya Vassllyevna, with thick black eyebrows, a faintly
perceptible moustache and red hands. The author uses metaphor method to show us
that the aristocratic rank is rude and arrogant, whereas the paupers is kind.
And if I were
Mashenka, I will also leave the house, because I can not bear the rude and unreasonable
suspect.
Good start here, especially with the summary. You need some more development for the other two paragraphs, though.
